OUR WORK

Our Areas of
Systems Change

Care is shaped through relationships, institutions, policies, cultures, and everyday practices. Lasting change emerges when these different layers are able to evolve together. Research, mapping, and collective sensemaking help us understand how care is experienced, organized, and supported. We bring together existing knowledge, lived experiences, and diverse perspectives to make care systems more visible and to identify opportunities for change. Our ecosystem-building work strengthens connections across sectors and creates spaces for collaboration, dialogue, and mutual learning. We also develop care infrastructure, relational design practices, policy initiatives, and cultural interventions that support more caring communities and institutions. For us, care infrastructure includes the relationships, practices, norms, and support systems that sustain collective wellbeing. Working across these interconnected areas allows us to contribute to long-term systems change and more caring futures.

OUR WORK

Research & Sensemaking

Care cannot be understood through statistics alone. It unfolds through relationships, institutions, cultures, policies, and everyday experiences. Our research brings together these different dimensions to develop a deeper understanding of how care systems function and where opportunities for change emerge. We map care ecosystems, document existing knowledge, and connect academic research with lived experience. The voices of caregivers, care receivers, and communities inform our work and contribute to a growing collective memory of care. This knowledge helps identify systemic gaps, strengthen public conversations, inform policy and practice, and support the development of more caring and restorative approaches to social change.

OUR WORK

Relational Design

Systems change grows through relationships. The quality of connections between people, organizations, and communities shapes what becomes possible and what remains out of reach. Our work focuses on cultivating the conditions that allow trust, collaboration, and collective action to emerge. We support reflective practices, care-centered governance, and ways of working that strengthen relationships across different parts of the ecosystem. This relational foundation creates space for dialogue, mutual learning, and shared responsibility. It helps communities and institutions navigate power dynamics, sustain collaboration over time, and develop responses grounded in care and reciprocity. Relational design offers a way of imagining change that values connection as much as outcomes. The work is not only about transforming systems, but about creating the relationships capable of sustaining that transformation.

OUR WORK

Ecosystem Building & Collective Learning

Care grows through relationships. Strong care ecosystems emerge when people, organizations, institutions, and communities are able to learn from one another, build trust, and work toward shared goals. Our work creates spaces for dialogue, exchange, and collective learning across the care ecosystem. We bring together diverse actors, perspectives, and forms of knowledge to strengthen connections and explore new possibilities for collaboration. Lived experience plays a central role in these processes. By creating opportunities for meaningful participation and mutual learning, we contribute to ecosystems where relationships deepen, collective capacity grows, and new forms of care can emerge.

OUR WORK

Care Infrastructure & Innovation

Many of the challenges facing care systems are well documented. Far less attention has been given to the question of what comes next: new ways of organizing care, emerging community models, supportive technologies, financing mechanisms, and infrastructures that can sustain care over time. Our work explores these possibilities. Insights generated through research, ecosystem building, and lived experience inform the development of new tools, programs, services, and care infrastructures. Ideas take shape through experimentation, prototyping, and learning. Small-scale initiatives provide opportunities to test approaches, understand what works in different contexts, and refine solutions alongside the people and communities they are intended to support. This work helps create practical pathways toward more caring, resilient, and future-ready systems.

OUR WORK

Care Policy & Advocacy

Care systems are shaped by policies, institutions, public investment, and collective priorities. Building more equitable, accessible, and sustainable care systems requires stronger connections between evidence, lived experience, and decision-making processes. Our work brings together research, lived experience, and emerging practices from across the care ecosystem to inform policy discussions and public debate. We contribute to the development of shared language, new perspectives, and a deeper understanding of care as a social and public concern. We create opportunities for dialogue among policymakers, public institutions, civil society organizations, caregivers, researchers, and other stakeholders. These conversations help strengthen collaboration, surface diverse perspectives, and support pathways toward more caring policies and systems.

OUR WORK

Narrative & Cultural Change

The way people understand care shapes how care is valued, organized, and supported. Public narratives, cultural norms, institutions, and everyday language influence whose needs are recognized and which forms of care become visible. Our work explores the stories, assumptions, and social norms that shape collective understandings of care. Through communications, storytelling, cultural interventions, and public engagement, we help develop new ways of talking about care and contribute to narratives that position care as a shared responsibility and a vital social infrastructure.
By challenging the idea of care as a private burden or personal sacrifice, we support a cultural shift toward recognizing care as a collective capacity that enables people, communities, and societies to thrive.
